Terms of use
These terms apply when you use dogfolk.co.uk, whether you browse, join as a member or manage a business listing. Last updated October 2026.
1. About these terms
By using Dogfolk you agree to these terms, our Community Guidelines and our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be 16 or over to create an account.
- Give accurate information, keep your password secure and don't share your account. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- One person may use one account as both a member and a business user. Don't create accounts to impersonate people or businesses.
3. Your content
- You keep ownership of the posts, photos, comments, dog profiles and listing content you share.
- You give Dogfolk a non-exclusive, royalty-free, UK and worldwide licence to host, store, display, resize and share that content in order to run and promote the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where it has been shared by others or we must keep it for safety or legal reasons.
- Only post content you have the right to share. Don't post photos of other people without their permission.
4. Things you must not do
- Harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against anyone, or post hateful, sexual or violent content.
- Promote animal cruelty, illegal dog fighting, banned breeds trading, or unlicensed breeding or selling of animals.
- Post spam, scams, misleading claims or unlabelled advertising.
- Share other people's personal information, including addresses or routines.
- Upload malware, scrape the service, try to get around security, or access accounts or data that aren't yours.
- Break the law or infringe anyone's rights.
5. Advice on Dogfolk
Tips shared by members are personal experience, not professional veterinary, behavioural or legal advice. Always speak to a vet about your dog's health.
6. Business listings and claims
- Listings are reviewed before they appear publicly, and certain changes to live listings are reviewed again.
- If you add, claim or manage a listing, you confirm you're authorised to act for that business and that the information is accurate and kept up to date.
- Inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement or recommendation. We don't check every listing's qualifications, insurance or licences — please check these yourself before using a business.
- Your arrangements with any business are between you and that business. Dogfolk isn't part of them.
- We may edit, decline, suspend or remove listings that are inaccurate, misleading or break these terms.
7. Sponsored and featured content
Some placements are paid for by businesses. They are always clearly labelled "Sponsored" or "Featured" and never presented as an independent recommendation. Any paid placement is agreed separately with Dogfolk.
8. Moderation, suspension and termination
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the Community Guidelines, or that put others at risk. Where practical we'll explain why. You can close your account at any time by contacting us, and you can delete your own content whenever you like. You can report content or listings using the report option, and block other members.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep Dogfolk running smoothly, but it's provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable, change or lose features. We may update these terms, and will tell members about significant changes. Continuing to use Dogfolk after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Otherwise, we aren't responsible for content posted by members or businesses, for the services businesses provide, or for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the part of the United Kingdom where you live, and you can bring proceedings in your local courts.
